A shooting last night in Nanuet sent a man to the hospital during a DEA investigation with the NYPD into gun charges. Published reports say the man was a suspect in the federal case that went down in the parking lot of the DoubleTree Hotel on Route 59 around 5:30. He was shot in the leg and shoulder and taken to Nyack Hospital. Two people were arrested. A gun was recovered at the scene. Police are investigating who shot first and how many rounds were fired by the DEA. The suspects are expected to be arraigned in a Southern District of New York court.

Long Lines, Some Electioneering Issues, Hit Rockland Early Voting Sites
The lines have been long, but things have generally been running smoothly at Rockland’s four town hall early voting sites. Rockland County sheriff Lou Falco says there have been some instances of electioneering in each town where early voting is taking place…
Election officials in Westchester said on Tuesday they would extend early voting by an hour each day at all 17 early voting sites there, but the same won’t be happening in Rockland. In a statement, Rockland Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski said he’d ask the governor to issue an executive order to add another hour to Rockland polling sites. For now, the early voting schedule at town halls in Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown and Ramapo remains for today, 12 noon to 8PM, Friday 9 to 5, and Saturday and Sunday 9 until 2PM. There’s no early voting Monday, and Election Day is Tuesday. And you don’t have to be a resident of a particular town to vote at any town hall.
Rockland COVID “Red Zone” Improving, But Remains Red While Orange’s Moves to “Orange”
New York’s governor gave the “Red Zone” micro-cluster in Orange County the go-ahead to move to an “Orange Warning Zone” after going from a positivity rate of 12 percent to 2 percent in three weeks with a flattened hospital admissions curve. Governor Andrew Cuomo said while the Rockland and Brooklyn “Red Zones” have shown improvement, the numbers aren’t yet good enough to move out of red.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve got 24 in the hospital confirmed with coronavirus, and a total of 843 active cases. The state says since the crisis began, we’ve had a total of 17,943 reported cases, 111 more than Wednesday, and the death count since the pandemic began remains at 684.
NY Gov Looks to Legalized Weed for Budget Help
The state’s massive budget deficit could get some help from marijuana, if it were legalized. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported last week the governor made those comments in an interview earlier this month while promoting his new book. Rockland state senator David Carlucci agrees the time has come to legalize recreational marijuana, as voters in several states will be deciding on Election Day…
Voters in New Jersey, Arizona, Montana, and South Dakota will decide statewide ballot measures to legalize marijuana for personal use. Assemblyman Karl Brabenec, who covers western Ramapo and portions of Orange County, doesn’t think the governor could simply create a new law through executive order without going through the legislature…
The governor’s pre-coronavirus revenue projections forecast a $60 billion budget shortfall through the 2024 fiscal year. Last year, the governor’s office said recreational marijuana could bring in $300 million a year.
