The sale of Nyack College to a Ramapo-based Hasidic school continues to move forward despite fire and safety violations found in several buildings. The Journal News reports the report has not discouraged the buyer from being interested in completing the purchase of the 107-acre campus, which still needs state approval.

Clarkstown Breaks up Large Wedding in Congers for Alleged COVID Violations
A party in Congers had to be broken up last week by Clarkstown Police after they received word they were above state social distancing and health guidelines. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann told “The Morning Show” yesterday that a wedding at Town & Country caterers went too far…
It’s unclear whether fines were issued. Hoehmann did indicate others have been issued summonses that get handled in Justice Court. We reached out to Town and Country but did not hear back.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve got two in the hospital being examined, another 17 have been confirmed with coronavirus, and a total of 1,026 active cases. The state says since the crisis began, we’ve had a total of 17,207 reported cases, 144 more than Monday, and the death toll remains at 680.
Man Charged in Alleged Assault, Gun Incident at Palisades Center
A man was arrested Sunday after an alleged assault in a parking lot in West Nyack Sunday night. Clarkstown Police say the unidentified 26 year old from Queens Village reportedly assaulted two women and threatened to shoot them in Parking Lot B at Palisades Center. After a brief high-speed chase around the mall’s ring road he was taken into custody. Police say they found a gun and some marijuana in the man’s car. The two women refused medical attention. The suspect is accused of Criminal Possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and other charges. Suez to Replace Old Water Main on Jay Street in Stony Point
Residents along Jay Street in Stony Point should get ready as a Suez project could prove to be a little disruptive, though as little as possible. Supervisor Jim Monaghan says Suez is replacing a 130 year-old water main in the area…
Since the road was repaved just five years ago, Monaghan says Suez will repave the entire street again once the project is finished. The timetable for the project was not revealed.
Website with Info on Potential South Nyack Dissolution Goes Live Ahead of December Vote
The website designed by a consultant researching the pros and cons of dissolving the village of South Nyack is up and running. CGR was brought in by the board of trustees in response to the citizen petition that created a special referendum to vote on the future of the village. The website can be found at www.cgr.org/southnyack. The consultant is also presenting findings at the November 24th village board meeting ahead of the December 17th referendum.
