Pfizer’s CEO told CBS yesterday that their experimental COVID-19 vaccine could be ready by the end of October and, if approved, could be distributed in the U.S. by the end of the year. Albert Bourla told “Face the Nation” the company is already producing the vaccine, just in case.

Sales tax revenue and other funds are concerns at every level of government thanks to the COVID crisis. The legislature recently rejected the county executive’s suggestion to temporarily raise the sales tax a half percent and tabled a plan to discuss selling the county’s dormant Sain building in New City.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve got two in the hospital being examined, another three have been confirmed with coronavirus. The state says we’ve got 14,510 reported cases, 30 more than Friday. And the Rockland Health Department says we have 675 total fatalities.

Rockland Marks 19th Anniversary of 9/11 Terror Attacks
Today is the 19th anniversary of the terror attacks on New York City and Washington DC. The county is hosting its commemoration in Haverstraw Bay County Park this morning at 8:30. Family members will read the names of the Rockland County victims. Because of COVID restrictions, it’s open only to family, survivors, first responders and friends. It’ll be streamed live on the county’s Facebook page and will be posted there later today. Supervisor Howard Phillips says later tonight the Rockland County Marine Corps League holds a ceremony at 7pm at Haverstraw Town Hall…

Elsewhere in the county, the Village of West Haverstraw is holding a candlelight ceremony tonight at Pecks Pond, behind the baseball field by the pavilion at 7:15. The village of Suffern’s ceremony is at Suffern Village Hall tonight at 7 pm. The village of Sloatsburg will hold its annual remembrance service at 11 this morning at the Sloatsburg Municipal Building.
