Memorial Drive near the Mahwah River in Suffern is being converted to a one-way street indefinitely beginning today due to soil erosion. Suffern officials say the roadway will be evaluated and then stabilized. Signage will direct traffic from Orchard Street towards Utopian Avenue.

New York State has many political parties. We all know about the Democrats and Republicans, but others have names that typically reflect their positions, such as Constitution, Communist, Green, Liberal, Libertarian and others. Among the others is the “Independence” party, which North Rockland Senator James Skoufis says confuses people into thinking the party is “independent”…
Skoufis cites a recent Daily News poll that found that 85% of 200 voters they surveyed registered in the Independence party believed they were independent of any party affiliation. A representative from the Independence Party could not be reached for comment.
Clarkstown Teacher Awarded Millions for Libelous Defamation by Area Blogger
A Rockland County jury Friday awarded a Clarkstown elementary school teacher four million dollars in compensatory and punitive damages for libelous defamation. Report: Discount Retailer to Take Over Former Nanuet Toys R Us
A discount retailer is reportedly coming to the former Nanuet Toys R Us location with plans to open later this year. Lohud.com reports the Rhode Island-based discount retailer Ocean State Job Lot will employ around 50 people after it converts the 38,000-square-foot building on Route 59. It’s been unoccupied since June last year.
