There are now 143 confirmed cases of measles within Rockland County as well as two suspected cases. And now Westchester reportedly has its first case of the measles. News 12 reports a local college student became infected after a sporting event last week in New Rochelle, where a New York City resident with the measles was also in attendance. Rockland’s Congresswoman in Twitter Feud with Minnesota Freshman Rep
Rockland’s congresswoman has found herself wrapped up in a Twitter war with a controversial new member of Congress, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. She suggested American politicians are forced to “pledge allegiance” to Israel. Congresswoman Nita Lowey has been calling Omar out for her allegiance suggestion as being discriminatory towards Jews, who are sometimes accused of having dual loyalties. Accusations of anti-Semitism have dogged Omar since she was elected to the House last November. “The Hill” reported that the House is expected to vote Wednesday on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism in response to Omar’s comments.

Empty Bowls Fundraiser today at RCC
RCC is hosting its “Empty Bowls Fundraiser” today to benefit the feeding ministries of Christ Church of Ramapo in Suffern. You can purchase bowls of homemade soup prepared by RCC Hospitality students and served in glazed pottery bowls that were handmade by RCC Art students. Christ Church prepares meals seven days a week to feed those who are hungry, with no restrictions and no questions asked. The event is today at the RCC Cultural Arts Center Atrium from Noon – 2:30.
Rockland Task Force on Water Resources Management Looks for Input on Water Usage and Conservation
Rockland is looking to establish a Comprehensive Water Conservation Plan and organizers are hoping to get area residents to participate in the process. A workshop is being held this week to determine how Rocklanders use water and the best ways to conserve it.
