Judge: Rockland Can Keep Kids out of School During Measles Outbreak

A federal judge yesterday said Rockland County’s “unprecedented measles outbreak” is enough to keep unvaccinated kids out of class at the Green Meadow Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge. The judge reportedly said the parents of 44 students at Green Meadow did not show public interest would benefit by stopping the Rockland Health Department’s order to keep unvaccinated students home. Green Meadow’s Director of Communications Vicki Larson said the school was not involved in the legal action and has been working with the Health Department since the beginning …

Rockland County Attorney Thomas Humbach said the county’s first priority is to protect the public health. The measles count , by the way, is now up to 145 confirmed cases with three more suspected cases.
