The Clarkstown Town Board unanimously voted last night to give residents the chance to vote on whether the Palisades Center can open its fourth floor attic space and add a parking deck. The proposal will be on the November general election ballot. If passed it would remove the so-called “restrictive covenant” that’s been in effect since Palisades was first built.

Woman Convicted in 1996 Pearl River Murder Released from Prison
A woman who was convicted in the 1996 murder of her husband in Pearl River has been released from her federal prison sentence. The Journal News reports Rita Gluzman has had several strokes and suffers from Parkinson’s disease, so was granted compassionate release from her Texas prison cell. She was convicted of murdering her husband in his Pearl River apartment. She was caught after her cousin was nabbed dumping his body parts into the Passaic River. She is reportedly planning to live in Hackensack with her sister. Her husband Yakov Gluzman was Russian scientist who worked at the former Lederle Labs in Pearl River.
House Passes Child Care for Economic Recovery Act
The House Wednesday passed the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act in a bipartisan vote of 250-161. Congresswoman Nita Lowey says the bill would make significant investments in the Child Care Entitlement to States, invest in infrastructure improvements to childcare facilities, and reimburse essential workers for child and dependent care costs during the COVID-19 pandemic…

Five Charged After Being Found in Stolen Car in Spring Valley
Two adults and three juveniles were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property by Ramapo Police after they were found Tuesday night in a car that had been reported stolen in Spring Valley earlier that morning. Police say the two adults were released on appearance tickets and are due back in the New Hempstead Village Court. The three juveniles were released to their guardians on appearance tickets and will appear in Rockland County Family Court.
BRIDGES Relocates to Palisades Center
BRIDGES is moving. Rockland’s disability advocacy agency, formerly known as the Rockland Independent Living Center, has moved from its old location on Route 45 in New City to its new digs at Palisades Center. Carlos Martinez is the Executive Director of Bridges, and says its new community headquarters in the mall gives them increased visibility…

Palisades Center will be returning to normal hours of operation beginning on Monday. The mall will be open Monday-Saturday, 10am-9:30pm and Sundays 11am-7pm.
