A New City family is staying with friends after their home was destroyed in an early morning fire Monday. No one was injured in the blaze that tore through the home on the corner of South Little Tor Road and Irion Drive. The New City Fire Department said on Facebook they were assisted by firefighters from Congers, Hillcrest, Nanuet and West Haverstraw. The fire is under investigation.

Rockland Renews 4th State of Emergency to Combat Measles
Rockland is now under its fourth State of Emergency in the war on the measles. It took effect at midnight and will remain in effect for the next month. Nearly 24,000 MMR vaccines have been administered by the county since the outbreak began last October. Earlier this month, the Rockland County Department of Health issued mandatory vaccination orders for all children and staff attending summer camp. Orange County Firefighter Dies, Run Over by Ambulance
A volunteer firefighter in Port Jervis was killed Sunday when he was run over by an ambulance leaving for a call. 22-year-old Nick McKeon was reportedly sleeping in front of the bay door at the station when the incident occurred.
