A 23 year-old Spring Valley man was killed Friday night and two others were hospitalized after the pickup truck they were riding in rear-ended a tractor-trailer on the Garden State Parkway extension in Rockland. State Police say 48 year-old Edgar Vega of Harrison crashed into the tractor-trailer, which was preparing to exit the parkway. Police say Luis Vega was not seat belted and was ejected from the pickup and declared dead at Westchester County Hospital. Edgar Vega was taken there with serious injuries. Another passenger, 70 year-old Maria Vega of Spring Valley, was taken to Nyack Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver was uninjured.

Former West Haverstraw Man Charged Fatal Shooting of Nyack Man
The 30 year-old former West Haverstraw man charged in the fatal shooting death of a Nyack man last month was arraigned in county court last week. Rockland District Attorney Tom Walsh says Jason Jabouin shot and killed Ryan Franklin in broad daylight in Nyack May 22nd. Jabouin faces second degree murder, armed robbery and criminal possession of a weapon charges and is being held in the Rockland County Jail without bail. He was tracked down and arrested in Maryland last week.

Spring Valley PD Investigating Saturday Shooting
Spring Valley police are reportedly investigating a shooting yesterday at the Kearsing Parkway Apartments. The incident happened late Saturday afternoon. George Floyd’s Cousin Leads Spring Valley Candlelight Vigil
The Spring Valley NAACP Young Adult Committee hosted a candlelight vigil last night at Spring Valley’s Memorial Park, honoring those who died at the hands of police officers, including the latest, George Floyd. He died after a Minneapolis police officer kept his knee on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Floyd’s cousin, Will Floyd, spoke at the event. He and other speakers encouraged people to make their voices heard through the ballot box.
