COVID numbers are holding pretty steady. Since Monday we’ve seen the total number of deaths in Rockland remain at 1,165. We’ve got seven hospitalized with coronavirus, that’s down two, and the total number of active cases is at 270, that’s down five.
Several Rockland Villages Holding Elections Today
Wesley Hills’ vote will take place from 6:00am to 9:00pm at Village Hall, located at 432 Route 306. Up for election this year are two Village Trustees positions and Village Justice.
New Hempstead’s elections are from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm at Village Hall located at 108 Old Schoolhouse Road in New City. On the ballot are the incumbent Mayor Abe Sicker, Deputy Mayor Shalom Mintz and Trustee Jennifer Eisenstein.
The village of Pomona is also reportedly holding elections today. Details were not available.

Longest-Serving Clarkstown Councilman, Deacon John Maloney, Dies at 98
Deacon John Maloney of Nanuet, a former Clarkstown councilman, died last week. Maloney was elected Councilman in 1973, and he held that position for 36 years, the town’s longest-serving Councilman. He was also Deputy Supervisor and Police Commissioner, and served many other roles, including the staff of New York Catholic Charities in 1948, working with street gangs in East Harlem and the South Bronx. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says he made his mark on the town over the years…
Maloney served as Chaplain at the Rockland County jail for 30 years, and was Chaplain of the Nanuet Fire Department for 40 years, and was named Firefighter of the Year in 2015. The Mass of Christian Burial is today at 10:00 am at Saint Anthony’s Parish Church, with interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. He was 98 years old.
Former Orangetown Police Chief Dies
Retired Orangetown Police Chief Kevin Nulty has reportedly passed away, that’s according to The Orangetown Police Benevolent Association, which made the announcement late last night on its Facebook page. Chief Nulty became an Orangetown police officer in 1976 and rose through the ranks to become Chief in 1997 until he retired three years ago. No other details were yet available.
