On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the start of a $17.8 million pavement improvement project on the New York State Thruway in Rockland County. The project includes renewing the pavement by performing mill and inlay operations to a two inch depth. The construction will take place from milepost 16.4 to milepost 24 northbound and southbound including five interchange ramps. Crisdel Group, inc. is the project contractor winning a competitive bidding process. All work will take place overnight to limit impacts to traffic and is currently expected to be completed by late Fall 2022, although road completion is subject to change due to weather.
According to News 12, authorities in Orange County are investigating a new social media threat directed towards two schools in the Newburgh School District. New Windsor police gave a confirmation stating that the image is under investigation as of Monday morning. Both schools have remained open following the online threat. Last week similar threats were made to other schools in the district which prompted a two hour delay. No suspects have been identified or arrested.
As the weather begins to warm, people are beginning to return to the outdoor dining we saw rise during and before the pandemic. New City had an event over the sunny weekend with their “Meet me on Main,” which according to News 12 offered live music, fun activities, and tasty food. The main stretch of Main Street in New City was closed to automobile traffic for the event. Events such as these will continue into the summer season in both Congers and New City.
