The Jewish holiday of Passover begins at sundown tonight. One tradition stipulates that certain foods that cannot be consumed during the holiday must be burned to properly dispose of them. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says residents can do it safely today at several locations around town…
The sites are Clover Stadium in Pomona, Manny Weldler Park on West Maple Avenue in Monsey, and the Monsey Park-and-Ride at Route 59 and Saddle River Road.

The owners of a long-dormant conference center in Orangetown and a developer have reportedly come to an agreement, but movement on any project could still be a long way off. Orangetown supervisor Teresa Kenny says the HNA Conference Center takeover still faces several court challenges…
Residents can still give input at a public hearing on April 25th. Located off Route 9W, the former IBM Conference Center has been deteriorating for years. Kenny says HNA still owes the town about $5 million in taxes.

Rockland’s congressman has introduced a bill that would make September 11th a federal holiday. Last week, 17th district representative, Mike Lawler, proposed the “September 11th Day of Remembrance” act. Lawler says this long-overdue legislation would help honor, remember and commemorate those who lost their lives as a result of the attacks on September 11th, 2001…
If signed into law, it would become the nation’s 12th official holiday.
Lawler also commented yesterday on Twitter about the indictment of former President Donald Trump and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s press conference. Lawler said “Since taking office, Bragg has refused to prosecute violent criminals, failed to protect victims, and made New York less safe. By making the decision to charge Trump and pursue a legal case that wasn’t prosecuted by the Biden administration’s Department of Justice, the Biden Federal Election Commission, or former Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, Alvin Bragg has further eroded confidence in our justice system. This is a grossly hyper-partisan move and our country is worse off for it.”
