A West Nyack man was accused late last week of driving drunk and crashing into a New City house. Clarkstown Police Department Detective Norman Peters says 37 year-old Jonathan Barnes drove his SUV through two fences early Friday morning before crashing into a home at 9 Carnaby Court…
Police say the occupant of the home said he narrowly escaped injury while he was laying on his bed, and he had to climb over the hood of the vehicle to keep from being trapped. No one was seriously injured. Police say Barnes was charged with DWI with a previous conviction, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator, DWI, and several other charges. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and released until a future court hearing.

Al Samuels is the head of the Rockland Business Association, and he says housing, funding of the MTA, and home electrification are also obstacles…
Samuels suggests the upcoming holidays of Passover and Easter could prevent the budget from being approved, perhaps, until next week.

State public safety and education officials met with the Governor on Friday over the dozens of recent “swatting” incidents across the state. Governor Kathy Hochul says she met with Education Commissioner, Betty Rosa, the head of State Police, Steve Nigrelli, and Andy Pallotta, the head of the teachers’ union, NYSUT. Hochul says they emphasized the state has tools to combat such phony and credible behavior that could be dangerous…
Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco says local law enforcement is working with the County Executive’s office and area schools and houses of worship to emphasize the things they can do together to help keep them safe…
Here in the Hudson Valley, schools in Yonkers, Chappaqua, Pleasantville, and Putnam Valley were all reportedly targeted for swatting incidents last week. There were no reports of any schools in Rockland being targeted.
