A former Corrections Officer with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office has pleaded guilty to charges of Unlawful Imprisonment and Forcible Touching stemming from an investigation two years ago into criminal activity inside the County Jail. District Attorney Tom Walsh says the charges against former Orange County resident John Kezek were based on allegations made by a female victim who worked at the jail, though he would not go into detail due to the sensitive nature of the accusations and to protect the victim’s identity. Walsh said Kezek’s actions “should not reflect upon the entire community of corrections officers.” Kezek will be sentenced in July to five years probation with a permanent order of protection for the victim.

Based on the 2020 Census, the Rockland County Legislature’s new redistricting maps are set to go into effect January first next year. Each district contains approximately the same number of people.
