The Bluefield Extension housing development on Union Road in the town of Ramapo just got a major boost from a New York State Supreme Court Justice. That’s according to the Journal News. Judge Sherri Eisenpress ruled against the objections put forward by the group CUPON, allowing the project to move ahead. CUPON argued the project was too high-density for the neighborhood. Owner Yakov Grunwald paid $2 million for the one-acre piece of property and had originally received approvals to build 10 units of multi-family housing with five accessory apartments, but those approvals were eventually rejected. Grunwald can now seek construction permits from the town.

A new retailer is coming to the former Stop and Shop in Nanuet and it could be open by this fall. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says “Floor and Décor” is going through the permitting process now. Hoehmann says the owners of the property didn’t want another supermarket to move in…
The former Stop and Shop was located on Middletown Road just south of the intersection of Route 59. It moved across the street and opened in August 2021 where Fairway was located near the Shops at Nanuet. Fairway closed in September 2019.
