Travelers who have been doing very little getting away thanks to the COVID years have lately been experiencing delays and outright flight cancellations. WRCR market analyst Ken Mahoney of Mahoney Asset Management in Chestnut Ridge says there’s a shortage of airline pilots, and it could be years before the airline industry gets back up to full pilot capacity…
Meanwhile, debate continues over the causes behind the delays and cancellations. USA Today reports an airline industry trade group blames a shortage of air traffic controllers, while others are pointing fingers at the airlines themselves for decreased staff. Both the FAA and airline groups deny they are the cause for the disruptions. The U.S. isn’t the only country dealing with travel disruptions. CNN reports London’s busy Heathrow airport has asked airlines to stop selling tickets for outbound travel, so they can limit traffic to just 100,000 daily departures.
