WRCR Market Analyst: 18 Year-old Truck Drivers Could be Dangerous

With the nation’s supply chain still stuck in first gear, a new program would give people as young as 18 the chance to drive big rigs across state lines to deliver toilet paper, chicken nuggets and other everyday items that seem to be disappearing from store shelves week after week. A reported shortage of qualified drivers has moved the government to set up an apprenticeship program for young, new truckers, but WRCR Market Analyst Ken Mahoney of Mahoney Asset Management in Chestnut Ridge says it could be dangerous for the drivers and others on the road…

The head of the American Trucking Association last October said the industry was short about 80,000 drivers.
