Work at Lake Deforest in Clarkstown by Veolia to Clean PFAS Could Wrap-Up by Year’s End

February 4, 2025 by Jeff Lewis

A two-phase project to clean so-called “forever chemicals” out of Lake Deforest is currently underway in Clarkstown. Supervisor George Hoehmann says the project by Veolia will clean the water of what the state considers to be excessive PFAS in the system…

Veolia Water New York spokesperson Sophia Salas says the first phase was completed last year, and phase two is underway now…

Salas says once the project is complete it’ll be the most advanced system in the company’s service area. Hoehmann expects the work to wrap-up this year.
