Winds Threaten Power Lines, O&R Puts Staff on Stand-By

March 2, 2021 by helpdesk1

When you combine daytime melting snow with overnight frigid temperatures and howling winds, you get a potentially nasty combination that area road crews and the electric company are grappling with. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says the constant brining and salting of the roads is eating away at his budget…

With winds today potentially gusting as high as 60 miles an hour, O&R has put 200 overhead line workers on stand-by to handle any outages. As of this morning there are 252 O&R customers without power in their coverage area, some of them in Pomona and New Hempstead. There were about 700 customers without power overnight.
