Western Highway Bridge Replacement Delayed Again

February 18, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

A highly-traveled roadway from Orangetown to Clarkstown will remain shut down near the border of the two towns, now possibly until April or May with work possibly continuing into June. The bridge on Western Highway between Pineview Road and Green Road is still in the process of being replaced. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says the steel has been installed, but the project hit supply chain issues and weather-related delays…

Hoehmann says the town is suing the bridge construction company and withholding a portion of payment based on the delays. The roadway is a popular route for those traveling between West Nyack and Blauvelt, and the delays have become quite an inconvenience. It was originally supposed to re-open in early January.
