“We Need More Adults in the Room” Says Orangetown’s Supervisor on Controversial PRHS Basketball Game

When she was told of the racial incident at last week’s Pearl River High School basketball game against Nyack High School, Orangetown’s supervisor got very angry. Teresa Kenny, whose kids went to Pearl River High, says more adults need to be in the room…

Video posted online showed a Black Nyack student being taunted with monkey sounds as he was attempting free-throws. The Nyack School District called it “racist and reprehensible behavior” and Pearl River’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marco Pochintesta said he was outraged by the student spectators’ actions and “the harm they have caused.” Pearl River has been under the microscope lately following allegations of anti-LGBTQ incidents over the past year.
