Water Usage in Rockland Down 11.4%

August 31, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

Average water usage here in Rockland is down 11.4% since the Modified Stage Two Water Emergency was enacted last week. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says unprecedented flow levels in the Ramapo River are limiting the use of Veolia’s Ramapo Valley Well Field, a significant source of water for Rockland residents, and that’s prompted the water company to implement a “drought rate” of 25 percent, but that would only go into effect after 30 days, September 17th, and only under certain situations…

This drought rate was okayed by the state Public Service Commission to encourage folks to reduce water usage. Click here for a list of all the restricted water uses under the modified stage two water emergency in this news article on our website.
