Volume of Absentee Ballots Slows Counting Process

The Rockland County Board of Elections is hoping to start the scanning of contested ballots today. Election Day was held two weeks ago. Democratic Elections Commissioner Kristen Zebrowski Stavisky says the sheer volume of absentee ballots – more than 27,000 out of the 35,000 that were requested in Rockland have been received – has delayed getting the results of the count. Rockland state Senator David Carlucci, who is leaving the Senate at the end of the year, says this process shouldn’t take so long…

Four major races in Rockland – some closer than others – are waiting to see the results of absentee ballots, including the state senate, assembly, county clerk and the Palisades Center referendum in Clarkstown.
