Residents of the village of New Hempstead can come out tonight to discuss plans for a piece of land the village is looking to buy from the town and turn into a park and relocate village hall. In an email to residents, New Hempstead Mayor, Abe Sicker, said the 25 acres on New Hempstead Road behind the Yeshiva of Greater Monsey, and bordering Barnacle Drive, Keri Lane and Fairway Oval, would cost $1.35 million dollars. The property would be converted into a park and a new village hall would eventually be located there. The school would get five acres and assist in building the park. The meeting is being held tonight (June 15th, 2022) at 7:30pm at the Town of Ramapo Senior Citizens Community Center at 319 Haverstraw Road in Montebello, that’s Route 202 near Mayer Drive. You don’t have to register to attend the meeting. For more information, contact the village clerk’s office at 845-354-8100.
