TZB Set to Come Down Tuesday Morning

January 14, 2019 by helpdesk1

The demolition of the old Tappan Zee Bridge has been rescheduled for tomorrow morning at 10am. The bridge was originally supposed to be taken down by Tappan Zee Constructors on Saturday, but that was cancelled due to bad weather. High winds last week caused delays to the operation’s prep work. County Executive Ed Day said Friday he thought the project would be put off until this weekend, concerned that having the bridge shut down during the week would be catastrophic…

Traffic between exits 11 (Route 9W in Nyack) and 9 (Route 9 Tarrytown) on the Thruway will be stopped for about an hour starting at ten AM tomorrow, and the Hudson River’s main navigation channel will be shut down, as well, from 8:30 to 11:30. Orangetown supervisor Chris Day says you can get a good view of the event from Piermont…

If you’re going to go to Piermont to watch, you should get there by 9am. The Ferry Road pier is just over a mile long. Piermont Police say you can park in Lot D and the River Lot or on the side streets. Again, it’s only open to pedestrians, not to car traffic.
