Two men were arrested and released after two burglaries in the village of Pomona. Ramapo police say the first incident occurred around 5am Monday, starting with the alleged attempted burglary of a local liquor store. While checking the area out, they discovered another burglary at a nearby Chinese restaurant. Ramapo Detectives tracked down and arrested two men later that night, a 46 year-old from Spring Valley and a 51 year-old from Pomona. Both were arraigned Tuesday afternoon and released on appearance tickets without bail under the New York bail reform laws. Though some changes were made when the budget passed in April, Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco says they didn’t go far enough…
Falco says once things calm down with the coronavirus situation he plans on meeting with other police chiefs across the state to discuss trying to change the laws even further.
