The town of Clarkstown will consider joining a new state law that would give volunteer first responders a break on their taxes. Supervisor George Hoehmann says there’s a public hearing next week on the volunteer EMS-Firefighter bill that would offer some savings on their property taxes starting in 2023…
Local volunteers could get a tax credit of up to 10% under the state bill that local governments could opt into, starting next year. Volunteers would have to have at least two years of service to qualify for the 10% exemption. Hoehmann expects the board to vote on the plan at January 24th’s meeting.
