The tolls to cross the new Tappan Zee Bridge could increase to $5.75 for NY E-ZPass users by 2022. That’s according to the Journal News, which said the state Thruway Authority board of directors formally proposed the increase yesterday at its meeting in Albany. Rockland and Westchester residents who qualify would get a discount rate equal to the current $4.75 toll, but if you pay by mail it could cost 30% more. The Thruway will hold public hearings next year before the increase would take effect. Rockland and Westchester state senator David Carlucci said a toll payer advocate should be in place to address cashless tolling problems.
