Three Weeks and Counting Until NY’s Budget is Due

March 11, 2024 by Jeff Lewis

The deadline for New York’s budget is just three weeks away, and there’s still lots of work to do before then. Assemblyman Karl Brabenec of the 98th District, covering western Ramapo and portions of Orange County, told “The Morning Show” Thursday, disagreements between legislators may not be the only reason the budget’s passage gets held up…

Good Friday is March 29th and Easter is on Sunday, March 31st, the day before the budget is due, but Passover doesn’t start until April 22nd. Budget negotiations have been known to go longer than that. The 2022 New York state budget went eight days past the deadline. In 2004, budget passage didn’t happen until 133 days after the deadline.
