Suffern High School Mourns Loss of Former Student Who Died in Charity Contest Earlier This Month

October 28, 2021 by Jeff Lewis

Suffern High School is yet again mourning the loss of one of their own. A former Suffern student reportedly died last week after choking during a charity eating contest in Massachusetts. 20 year-old Madelyn Nicpon was a junior at Tufts University and died at Massachusetts General Hospital on October 17th. Around 3,000 students, faculty and staff held a candlelight vigil on campus that night in her honor. Nicpon played lacrosse, field hockey, and indoor track for Suffern High and was a member of the National Honor Society. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the Nicpon family cover funeral expenses. 16 year-old Jacqueline Zangrilli was killed in a car accident in April, and senior football standout Steven Sanon died unexpectedly in February.
