SUEZ NY Exploring Options for Algae Bloom Issue in Lake Deforest

The water in Rockland is safe to use and drink, despite an earthy color and odor for some customers. That’s according to the company, which blamed the situation on an algae bloom in Lake Deforest due to a lack of rain. SUEZ Director of External Affairs, Bill Madden, says the company is working to resolve the issue…

SUEZ got two special permits from the State DEC to use copper sulfate to help reduce algae levels and the objectionable taste and odor.
