Much of the focus so far has been on the North Rockland and Orange County roadways that have been closed, and remain closed, since Sunday’s devastating floods from the heavy rain. There’s also been the human toll. One fatality has been recorded from the floods, a Montgomery woman who was swept into the raging waters while looking for her dog. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says a group of hikers in Bear Mountain State Park had to be rescued by Stony Point Ambulance Corps volunteers…
Monaghan says the state may be opening a satellite office this afternoon at Stony Point’s Roh Building on Patriot Hills Drive to help residents and business owners with their insurance questions and how to file insurance claims. Meanwhile, several major roadways in the area remain closed this morning, including both directions of the Palisades Parkway from Exit 14 to Route 6, Route 9W from Tomkins Cove to Bear Mountain, the Bear Mountain Bridge, and Route 9W from the Bear Mountain Circle to Fort Montgomery in Orange County.
