State Law Repealing Religious Exemption to Vaccinations Stands; Parents Plan Appeal

August 27, 2019 by helpdesk1

Litigation to allow for religious exemptions to getting a measles vaccination continue to make their way through the courts. On Friday, the state Supreme Court said the new state law repealing the religious exemption to vaccinations for schoolchildren remains in effect. The group of parents that brought the lawsuit plans to appeal. Rockland’s County Executive meanwhile is confident only medical exemptions will be allowed. Ed Day says once school starts, all kids will have to get their immunizations…

Meanwhile, people who visited Disneyland, Disney California Adventure Park and the Desert Palms Hotel from August 11th to the 15th may have been exposed to the measles after an infected teen from New Zealand was there. The CDC says around 12-hundred cases have been confirmed in 30 states, almost 25% are here in Rockland. As of last week, there were 296 confirmed cases of measles in the county.
