A Spring Valley woman will spend the next nine years in state prison after being convicted in the stabbing of a local restaurant owner. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh says Evelyn Lopez was convicted of Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon earlier this year. Walsh says Lopez pretended to need medical assistance when she approached the victim in March last year as she was closing her restaurant for the night. Walsh says she then stabbed her unprovoked several times, slashing her face and hand. Her injuries required extensive surgery.
