Residents of the South Orangetown Central School District voted yesterday on a Capital Improvements Bond and Special Board Election. The $32 million bond passed with 66 percent of the vote. The nearly $50 million project includes district-wide classroom renovations, upgrades to lighting, ceilings, and plumbing, a renovation to the Tappan Zee Auditorium, and more. Two candidates ran for one open seat on the board, Steven Peña got 929 votes while his opponent, Arash Mossafa, got 916, a difference of 13 votes. Peña will serve the remainder of Christine Lee’s vacated term through June 30th, 2023.
