A petition calling for a public vote to potentially dissolve the village of South Nyack has been certified by the village’s clerk. The Journal News says backers of the petition are concerned about rising expenses and taxes, and the future of Nyack College. The South Nyack Board of Trustees will schedule a public hearing on the referendum, which would take place within 60 to 90 days. The village would become an unincorporated section of Orangetown.
