Area fire officials are concerned about a misleading pamphlet distributed in the Ramapo area that purports to be from a fire safety group. On “Who Wants to be a Volunteer” earlier this month, Rockland’s Director of Fire and Emergency Services, Chris Kear, said the group called “Matzilay Eish” has been distributing cards and leaflets printed to include legitimate area fire companies’ phone numbers and safety hotlines, but also directs residents to call this questionable group in case of a fire…
Kear says the legitimate groups included in the materials did not authorize “Matzilay Eish” to distribute the information with their logos or phone numbers on them. He stresses that in the case of an emergency, call 911. We could not reach “Matzilay Eish” for comment.
