Sloatsburg’s long-time, on-again-off-again mayor has announced his retirement at the end of this year. 79-year-old Carl Wright, a life-long village resident, served three times as mayor for a combined three decades: first from 1975 to ’81, then again from ’85 to ’89 and again from 2000 until now. As you might expect, Wright has a long list of accomplishments that he’s proud of, such as improved roads and securing top-notch equipment for the fire department and Public Works, but doing things for the kids is what pleased him most…
Besides his time as mayor, Wright has also served in Sloatsburg’s volunteer fire department for 56 years.
