Rockland’s Sheriff Planning Meeting with County’s Schools Superintendents to Discuss Safety

Rockland’s sheriff is preparing to meet with the county’s school superintendents to discuss safety measures in the wake of several high-profile mass shootings in New York and an elementary school in Texas. Governor Kathy Hochul spoke at a meeting of the Interstate Task Force on Illegal Guns last week, and said one effective method of keeping people safe in New York is law enforcement’s ability to get illegal guns off the streets…

The Associated Press reports Payton Gendron, the 18 year-old accused of killing ten people in a Buffalo supermarket last month, was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday on state domestic terrorism and hate crime charges. The mandatory sentence, if he’s convicted, would be life in prison. Meanwhile there was another mass shooting yesterday, this time at a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where four were killed.
