Rockland’s County Executive Slams MTA’s Proposal to End West-of-Hudson Rail Service

August 31, 2020 by helpdesk1

Rockland’s county executive is slamming the MTA for its announcement last week that threatened the future of west-of-Hudson rail service. MTA chairman Patrick Foye said in a press conference last week it’s no bluff…

The MTA says they need $12 billion in federal assistance to keep operating at full strength through 2021. Robert Foran is the Chief Financial Officer of the MTA, and reiterated the drastic cuts that would be necessary without federal funding…

County Executive Ed Day says despite the billions the MTA is saying they need from the federal government, the proposal to eliminate operations to Rockland and Orange counties entirely falls flat since we already pay more into the system than we get out of it…

Day and other area lawmakers have suggested leaving the MTA entirely and joining up with NJ Transit instead.
