Rockland’s County Executive is slamming the MTA over their quest to raise tolls and their congestion pricing plan, and praising the state’s comptroller for doing the same. New York’s Comptroller, Tom DiNapoli, last week released a report asking the Thruway Authority to try more cost-cutting measures before raising commuter tolls, which are scheduled to begin in 2024. Rockland County Executive Ed Day told “The Morning Show” Friday he was pleased the comptroller came out with his report…
DiNapoli says the Thruway first needs to improve its operations and maximize non-toll revenues. He says as New Yorkers are faced with rising costs for food, shelter and gas, the Thruway should be more transparent with the public and put in place all possible cost-savings and alternative revenue actions to minimize costs to drivers. Raising tolls, he said, should be the last option.
