Rockland’s Congressman made his first speech and cast his first vote from the House floor earlier this week. Mike Lawler voted to cut funding for the IRS, making good on a promise by House Republicans. Lawler claimed the additional 87,000 IRS agents in the $80 million IRS funding bill would have been used to collect more money from average Americans, not just the nation’s top earners…
The vote is likely more symbolic in nature, as it doesn’t have enough support in the Democratic-controlled Senate, and the White House has already indicated opposition to the bill. It’s part of the Inflation Reduction Act passed last August.
