The COVID-19 situation has caused the cancellation of Memorial Day Parades and the watchfires in our area but that doesn’t mean there won’t be ceremonies. Frederick W. Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery and the Gary Onderdonk Veterans Memorial Cemetery will both be open throughout Memorial Day weekend to allow for visits. Clarkstown is holding a ceremony today at 10am but it is closed to the public. It can be viewed on the town’s Facebook page. The town of Ramapo will also live stream an event today on its Facebook page at 11AM. If you get a chance, check out the village of Suffern’s Facebook page they’ve got video of Memorial Day parades from the 60’s that you’ll probably enjoy. Rockland County’s Department of Public Transportation has posted transit schedules for Memorial Day, this Monday. Most transit services are reduced or suspended during the pandemic, but you can check for updated holiday schedules.
