Rockland County homeowners will be getting a break starting tomorrow on their home energy bills. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says by eliminating the Residential Energy Sales Tax, county taxpayers will save about $4 million this winter and nearly $12 million annually…
Day and the County Legislature agreed to the break last year for the 2022 budget. The residential energy sales tax was first put in place in 2012 and set to expire in 2025 after being extended due to the COVID crisis. The residential energy sales tax applies to all sources of energy, including natural gas, propane and home heating oil, as well as electricity.
