MTA fare and toll hikes that got the OK last month went into effect on Sunday, but fares for the Pascack Valley and Port Jervis Lines were not included. Tolls for MTA bridges and tunnels went up by 6% for motorists with E-ZPass and 10% for tolls-by-mail. Fare hikes for MTA subway and local bus service will go into effect on August 20th. The agency said the increases are expected to generate $117 million for the MTA this year. Meanwhile, though the cost for the congestion pricing toll are expected to be around $23 each trip, it hasn’t officially been decided yet. The New York Daily News says the Traffic Mobility Review Board is scheduled to hold its second meeting next week. The board’s recommendations will guide the MTA in deciding the costs.
