Rockland Safety and Public Officials Urge Parole Board to Keep Convicted Killer Out of County Once He’s Released

July 9, 2021 by helpdesk1

Rockland political and public safety officials are demanding that the paroled killer of a Pearl River teen not be allowed to set foot in the county once he gets out of prison. 60 year-old Robert McCain was one of two men convicted and now released by the state early from his prison term. Rockland Assemblyman Mike Lawler wants the parole board to resign…

And that was County Executive Ed Day. It was October 1980 when 16 year-old Paula Bohovesky was brutally raped and murdered while walking home from her job at the Pearl River Library. Orangetown Police Chief Donald Butterworth went to Pearl River high school the same time Paula did…

And that was Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco. It’s not known yet where McCain might go once he is released, but the sheriff says once he gives that information to prison officials and gets out, he’ll be notified. Meanwhile Lawler and Rockland state senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick are working to get Paula’s Law passed. Their bill would ban parole for those convicted of killing and sexually assaulting a child under the age of 18.
