Rockland Police and Lawmakers to Hold Press Conference at Courthouse in New City Thursday on Criminal Justice Reform Laws

November 20, 2019 by helpdesk1

Rockland County police and lawmakers will be holding a press conference tomorrow to ask the governor and other state lawmakers who voted for the criminal justice reform package to reconsider it and make some changes they say are dangerous to the community and are too expensive for municipalities to bear. Ramapo police chief Brad Weidel heads up the Rockland County Police Chiefs Association, and says some of the changes negatively impact public safety…

Rockland County Executive Ed Day says he’s concerned about costs, as suburban and rural communities outside of the city don’t have the infrastructure in place to handle many of the proposed changes…

The press conference is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 on the steps of the Rockland County Courthouse.
