Rockland Officials Condemn Graffiti Found Scrawled on Rockland Pride Building in Nyack

January 12, 2023 by Jeff Lewis

Area leaders were quick to condemn a hate slur targeting members of the LGBTQ+ community that was found scrawled on the outside wall of the Rockland County Pride Center on South Franklin Street in Nyack. Mayor Don Hammond says the words of hate were written three times on the front of the building sometime Tuesday night…

Rockland County Executive Ed Day, Legislature Chairman Jay Hood, and Legislator Harriet Cornell condemned the incident, with Cornell noting that the people who work and use the Rockland Pride Center’s services do not deserve to be attacked with hateful words. Hammond said a report was filed with the Orangetown Police Department. Anyone with information can call them at 845-359-3700 or send an email to orangetownpd@orangetown.com.
