Rockland Marks May as Mental Health Awareness Month

May is mental health awareness month, but the coronavirus situation has made dealing with mental health issues an even greater challenge, and the fear is that many are suffering as society grapples with our new way of life. Sandy Wolf of NAMI Rockland, the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, says people who are dealing with financial uncertainly, their own health, or death, can feel deeper levels of anxiety and depression…

Brigid Pigott is with the Rockland County Department of Mental Health, and chairs the suicide prevention coalition. Pigott says they are seeing signs of increasing mental health issues…

Dr. Susan Hoerter is a child and adolescent psychiatrist, and the medical director of the Rockland Department of Mental Health. Dr. Hoerter says at this time, it can be harder to figure out whether your child needs help or not…
