Rockland Looks to Jump-start “Open Space Preservation & Acquisition Program”

October 3, 2019 by helpdesk1

Rockland County is looking to acquire and protect more open space for several important properties, including area wetlands, historic sites and Hudson River access points. Clarkstown legislator Harriet Cornell says her resolution calls for reestablishing the “Open Space Preservation & Acquisition Program” by asking the county executive to set aside $30 million in the 2020 capital projects budget…

The Great Recession put a damper on the county’s open space purchasing abilities. Among the areas saved through the program include Haverstraw Bay County Park, Clausland Mountain in Orangetown, Erickson Farm in Ramapo, the Stony Point Marsh and Cropsey Farm in Clarkstown.
